Buying a mattress isn't something most of us do often. And walking into a Sleepys or other mattress store front is basically the New York equivalent of walking onto a used car sales lot. It basically means that you've immediately been identified as the prey and that it's open season and you're not walking out until you've been quartered and flayed alive. In any case, trying to escape that sordid end, I found Craig's Bed online and when I looked up the reviews on Yelp and called, I found they actually have a show room in the city. And that's how I found myself at 5pm on a random Tuesday evening, wandering the white halls of an office building in the Garment district until I came to a door with the Craig's Bed name. After ringing the bell, Craig himself actually came out and showed me to their showroom, a large room with 22 different mattress models. I then spent the next 10 minutes jumping from bed to bed, trying to figure out the difference between Plush and Firm. Having always thought myself a Plush girl, I found myself disconcerted at first by just how plush, the plush model was. I "sunk" into the mattress. On the other hand, the exact same model in a firm, while slightly firmer than I'm used to, was more traditional in what I expected a new mattress to feel like. My fear mostly was that if the Plush mattress was this soft now, what would it feel like in 3 years? Craig assured me that with the new bed technology, I had nothing to fear and that the Plush mattress would remain plush (and not just end up with a big hollow imprint of me sleeping in a specific spot). He explained coils versus memory foam. And I even asked him about latex mattresses. He doesn't carry any in his showroom but does have some available online. Craig was completely non-pressuring. In fact, he was very nice and pleasant and I highly doubt this is the usual mattress shopping experience. His prices are extremely competitive (okay, the best I was able to found either online or through stores) and while I've decided I'm going to hang onto my current mattress just a little while longer (trying to figure out whether I should splurge or just get the basic model), if and when I do decide to buy a mattress, this is definitely where I'm buying it from.

We are absolutely pleased with Craig.We needed the mattress to sleep in our new apartment and as promised, Craig got it delivered by 6 pm. He provides personal service to all his customers and makes sure to keep his promise. Prices are very competitive and service is 5 star.

WOW! Outstanding service. I live out of state and was skeptical about buying a mattress online, but I had selected the models I wanted and figured why not give it a try? SERVICE was top notch. Over the top. Prompt return calls, clear instructions and confidence that they are delivering the best service in the business. PRICE. Unbeatable. REPEAT CUSTOMER? ABSOLUTELY. I bought 2 mattresses from Craigs Bed. When the time comes for me or any of my friends or family to buy another mattress, I won't think twice about sending them to Craig. [CAVEAT: As I write this, I have not received my order yet (hey - its only been 5 days!), but I am so confident that I could not help but write this review. Will repost if something goes sideways, but I just don't see that happening.] UPDATE the mattresses arrived on time and the delivery crew was top notch - efficient, polite and had my old mattress out and the 2 new mattresses set up in under 30 minutes. Craigs Beds is outstanding!

I recently moved to NYC and wanted a mattress to be delivered on the day that I arrived. I shopped around online for quite a while and eventually stumbled on craigsbeds.com, and found a Simmons mattress described to be the equivalent of the W Hotel mattress - a mattress to die for. And the price was very reasonable. I called Craig's Beds and spoke to Craig and he told me that if I placed my order by a certain date, he would have the mattress delivered by the day I moved in. A few days before I am to move in, I get an email from Craig saying the mattress won't be delivered until a few days later. I was not pleased by this news. Luckily, Craig is someone who understands the importance of customer service. Instead of just telling me to figure something out, he personally brought over a brand new Aerobed the day I moved in that I could use until my mattress arrived. I highly doubt Sleepys or any other major mattress dealer would have done that for me. When my mattress did come, it did not disappoint. It is really, really comfortable and I am thrilled with my purchase. Craig's Beds showed me that customer service is not dead and that it is possible to have a pleasant mattress purchase experience. Also, Craig was kind of obsessed with my apartment. If you're reading this, Craig....no, you can't move in. :P

We bought a bed from Craigs back in early March 2011. First we priced our Simmons Comforpedic at S........s and found the price for the same mattress to be $1000 less at Craigs!! We called Craigs and got the same mattress, under a different name of course, for much less. And with 2 free Comforpedic pillows!! We had to wait a few weeks because the mattress actually comes direct from Simmons.. you can actually see the manufacture date when it gets delivered!! Craig, the owner, talked directly to me and couldn't have been more helpful with every aspect of the process. The mattress is excellent and we'll probably never go back to an innerspring again. My advice is to find what you like and take the specs, if it's a latex or memory foam, it will be much easier to get an exact match. The mattress factories call all of their mattresses by a different name depending on where you shop. This is to avoid comparison shopping...which should be illegal!!! Find what you like at these big chain stores then go to Craigs beds you won't be disappointed!!
